Confessions of a Double Virgo

The fault in my stars: Virgo with ascendant in Virgo

I'm the rarest type of double Virgo! A Virgo with the rising sign (my ascendant) in Virgo. This alignment of the stars at the time of birth means there's no discrepancy between my inner self and the outward appearance.

Before moving on, let's highlight the difference between the rising sign (ascendant) and the Sun sign  ( the zodiac sign in which the Sun is positioned at the time of birth). The Sun sign refers to the utmost secluded part of the self. Hence, this is the most genuine part of us. The rising relates to our social personality. It's the way I "dawn" on people related to the zodiac sign on the Eastern horizon when I was born. The rising sign represents my physical body and outward style.

There you have it; I'm Virgo to my fingertips. My friends relish my ability to synergize, and my enemies fear my laser-like mind. I found these typical Virgo traits particularly useful during my Army Service years and realized how I'm so uniquely starstruck.

Traditionally, Virgos were seen as selfish nitpicky, "clean freaks," but I'm neither. As a hard-working person, I see myself always grasping for more knowledge and a better understanding of the world.

My birth chart

Sun in Virgo

The Sun represents vitality, a sense of individuality, and outward-shining creative energy. My Sun sign is also in Virgo, which means that I am always genuine with family, friends, and strangers alike.

Sun in XII (the twelfth house)

This helped me cope with the COVID-19 pandemic lockdowns, as I'm at my best in secluded spaces. I can pull strength from solitude, thanks to my tendency to be introspective.

Virgos are highly compassionate and seek to improve the lives of others. This explains why, during the past year, I went back to coaching and content writing.

Moon in Taurus

The Moon influence can be linked to our emotions, the unconscious mind. Having the Moon in Taurus made me a poet and an inveterate romantic. I'm sentimental to the bone, and my feelings are unwavering, which probably explains why my relationships have always been enduring.

Lunar Taureans are like swans; thus, break-ups don't happen quickly. Therefore, I find solace in serenity, stability, and loyalty. I appreciate all the good things in life, but there's always a downside for everything, and the moon influence can leave a Virgo scarred or heartbroken.

Moon in IX (the ninth house)

Here lies the reason why I'm imaginative, eager to study, and know more, highly intuitive. I spent the last five years in Brussels, Belgium, working on European Commission-funded projects. The Moon in IX empowered me to learn languages and offered the gift of empathy with all foreign cultures.

Mercury in Leo

This is the ruling planet of Virgo; Mercury represents the mind and intellect, hence "associated with all forms of communication and the in-flow and out-flow of intelligence." I have a natural curiosity, which made me a problem-solver; I'm the kind of person who is always reaching out to those in need of help.

“Virgos are more or less the canonized saints of friendship. Their empathy is limitless and comes with action.” —Astro Poets: Your Guides to the Zodiac, by Alex Dimitrov and Dorothea Lasky

Mercury in XII (the twelfth house)

When I was a teenager, I had trouble expressing myself; hence I resorted to writing about my feelings. I preferred quiet places where I could hear my inner voice. Mercury gave me a philosophical mind and introduced me to poetry.

Venus in Libra

Venus is the planet of emotions, values, and altruism. My natural kindness comes from this alignment with Libra, and I'm genuinely a gentle lover. I usually have an idealized image of my relationship. In love, I'm more a giver than a taker, and I strive to share everything with my girlfriend.

Venus in II (the second house)

This gave me a lovely voice, but not the singing kind. It also granted me a better understanding of the five senses, as the world of touch and smell is appealing to me.

Mars in Libra

Mars represents the desire for action and physical energy. The balanced influence of Libra makes me reflect on things before acting. That's why I have to fight my tendency towards procrastinating. Decisiveness is not my strong point, as I feel the need to weigh all of the alternatives before taking action.

On the upside, I can predict when problems and discord will occur well in advance, which has made me a better life-coach and conflict-manager.

Mars in II (the second house)

This alignment gave me the focus to learn a lot and work hard for my money. Many times, I had to restart my career from scratch.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

Jupiter in Cancer

Jupiter is the planet of grace and plenty. Aligned with Cancer, Jupiter helped me understand the importance of my instincts when pursuing business success, as I treasure stability and financial security.

Jupiter in XI (the eleventh house)

A star alignment that was particularly useful during my army days in a highly cooperative environment.

Saturn in Virgo

The trifecta alliance of my Virgo Star sign, Virgo rising sign, and Saturn in Virgo made me a balance and harmony enthusiast, hence my passion for Feng-Shui. My stubbornness and slight hypochondria are the downsides of the Saturnian influence.

Saturn in XII (the twelfth house)

Loving, quiet environments, going into lockdown, and becoming a content writer was the silver lining to the COVID-19 cloud in my life.

Uranus in Scorpio

Representing egoistic liberty, Uranus in Scorpio inspires me to research and explore new ways to connect with others.

Uranus in III (the third house)

I've been curious and inventive since childhood. I recall playing with Legos, but instead of following the manual and build the depicted toy, I would create a new one.

I'm self-taught in many aspects of life and science, and I'm always eager for more and trying to learn something new.

Neptune in Sagittarius

Neptune represents transcendental liberty and why I feel so drawn to the East, as Sagittarius makes me love everything foreign and have a philanthropic vision that's in line with oriental philosophy.

Neptune in IV (the fourth house)

Neptune in this house highlights the presence and influence of my mother as my guardian and inspiration.

Pluto in Libra

Pluto represents transformation and, again, my longing desire to relate to others and succeed in all aspects of life.

Pluto in II (the second house)

I'm entirely self-reliant and perseverant even when faced with challenging scenarios. I aspire to feel safe and to have a secure and comfortable life.

Final Thoughts

Talking about her Virgo characteristics, in a Dazed & Confused interview, Beyoncé answered:

I am a Virgo to the tee! I wonder what signs the other designers are? I like to think outside the box. I don’t believe in the answer ‘no’. I am extremely driven and extremely critical — sometimes overly critical. Sometimes it is one of the things that I have to work on. I am a control freak. I pay attention to details. When I do something I do it 100 per cent. I have high expectations of myself and expect the exact same thing of everyone around me. I’ve always been that way. I am all or nothing.

Reading her words, it's like staring at myself in a mirror. When the going gets tough, Virgos get going. In times of crisis, we have to ruck up and help bring order to chaos.

“When life feels chaotic, Virgo will tidy up.” —astrologer Chani Nicholas for O, the Oprah Magazine
