Is It Possible To Turn the Light “Back in Time”?
A team of physicists from the University of Queensland somehow managed to do so.
Is it possible to turn the light back in time? While this may seem like something very unlikely, today some scientists have managed to reverse the light waves thanks to a particular device.
Presenting this extraordinary device is a study by researchers from the University of Queensland published in the journal Nature Communication. Specifically, the scholars have “inverted” the light waves thanks to their device which has allowed creating a sort of backward path after the same light waves have crossed an object. It is a bit like watching a video of the light waves played backward.
Before sending it back, let’s recall what we know about light first…
What is Light?
Light, or Visible Light, commonly refers to electromagnetic radiation that can be detected by the human eye. Scientists have evidence about the dual nature of light.
- Sometimes it acts like a wave, which explains how it can bend(diffracts) around an object.
- Sometimes it acts like a particle(photon) as it travels in straight lines.
