One of the biggest misconceptions I’ve come across throughout my nearly twenty years as a freelance writer is that it’s a get rich quick scheme. The next thing people often believe is we can work whenever we want. That’s far from the truth because deadlines dictate our schedules. It bothers me to see advertisements or sponsored posts on social media depicting writing as a way to make passive income. Determine What Kind of Writing You Want to Do:

Before beginning, you must determine what kind of writing you want to do. It’s impossible to sit in front of your computer, type some words, and expect them to sell. There are several different types of writers and even more types of writing in demand. You can focus on one form or several types. It’s also possible to specialize in a specific industry, topic, or niche. However, many writers are generalists. That way, they can focus on a myriad of topics without limiting themselves.
